My work with primary schools involved two types of visit:
Primary schools were invited to bring their pupils to a Science laboratory (G8) at Birkdale High School. The primary school pupils then carried out a series of analytical tests (microscope analysis of fibres, flame tests, fingerprint identification, handwriting analysis and ink analysis using chromatography) in order to solve a mystery.
Mr Leece and I visited primary schools with pupils and animals from Birkdale High School Animal Club. We delivered interactive sessions on “Adaptations for Survival”. The primary school pupils were able to interact closely with a variety of animal specimens, including a bearded dragon, tree frogs, corn snake, royal python, chinchillas, rats, }gerbils, tortoise, stick insects, sticklebacks and giant african land snails.
