Students are formally assessed twice a year, and following each assessment, data is collected and reports sent home to parents/carers. In Years 7 – 9, the reports will contain the results of the student’s assessment in each subject, as well as the average result for the class or cohort. In those subjects where a formal assessment is not deemed appropriate, due to the structure of the curriculum, the student will be awarded a grade to indicate the standard at which he is currently working. In Years 10 and 11, the report will contain the result of his assessment, using the grading criteria for the course he is studying.
Also contained within the report is a grade from A to D, to indicate his approach to our Routines for Learning, and the quality of his homework and presentation. One of the two reports will be a full report, and include comments and targets for improvement from his subject teachers.
In addition, at each reporting period, we identify the students with the highest scores for Routines for Learning in their year. These students will receive a letter inviting them to a Rewards Breakfast, to celebrate this achievement with their Head of Year.
All parents are also expected to attend Parents/Carers Evenings (2 in Years 7 and 11, 1 in Years 8, 9 and 10) where a more detailed face-to-face conversation can take place.
